A new term of office
Olga Yegorova, chair of Moscow City Court since 2002, is due for re-appointment
The Russian Federation’s supreme judges’ credentials collegium “has recommended that Olga Yegorova be confirmed” for another six years as chair of the Moscow City Court, a post she now holds, a collegium spokesman Anatoly Avtonomov told Interfax.
He emphasised that no alternative candidate to Yegorova was proposed. Explaining the procedure for appointment, Avtonomov said that when the term in office of the present chair of the Court came to an end, the post must be declared vacant. “Those who wish to apply can submit their documents,” he added.
After the candidate’s application is confirmed, Avtonomov said, the collegium of the Supreme Court would prepare the necessary documentation and forward it to the personnel commission of the Russian President: “The commission will draw its conclusion, after which their remains the final stage, confirmation by the Russian President.”
